Is There Something On My Neck - Original Painting

This is a study for a series I may or may not end up making. It's a sort of exploration of the connection between physical and emotional pain.

It's gruesome, but also silly. The blood looks like sweet, jammy, b-movie cornsyrup blood. Her expression is fairly placid for her predicament, and the setting is serene.

I think especially right now, in these Covidtimes, the idea that we have to act chill and press on, even when we're in a great deal of distress, is pretty relevant.

I think in typing that out I helped convince myself that I should go ahead and make the full series...

Anyway!

Painted on 12x16" canvas board.

Canvas board is flat, and this painting fits nicely in a storebought frame, especially if you take the glass out.
